New data obtained by People Management has revealed that over £390,000 of employment tribunal awards were unpaid in 2017 as a result of insolvency.
The data acquired through a freedom of information request from the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy uncovered that 56 awards in total went unpaid due to the employer being either dissolved, liquidated or placed under administration.
Laurie Anstis, director in the employment team here at Boyes Turner, spoke to People Management about the findings, the problems it causes in the industry, as well as the extent to which phoenixing is an issue.
