Summer Training Times – Employment and HR Training Academy

Welcome to our Summer edition of Training Times – we have had a busy few months, but there is still time to book on our exciting Autumn events, including a course which focuses on the NEW GDPR which is coming our way very soon!

May and June

Thank you to all those who attended our Millennial Management Dilemma training course in May. Focusing on generational diversity in our workforces, we discussed how to attract, retain and get the most out of our millennial talent pool. The course was so successful, we are running it again in London on 18 October. 

In June, we ran a 2-day HR Masterclass for those new, returning or just HR-curious! Thank you to all who came and look out for a re-run of the course in 2018.

On 22 June, we held our second Conference of the year focusing on “Building Better Teams”. Moving on from our February conference, we discussed managing difficult employee conversations and how coaching can inspire and motivate your teams. We were thrilled to be joined by Ann Dickins, MBE and Paralympic gold winning canoeist – Ann even brought her gold medal! It really was truly inspirational and our thanks go to Ann and Moving Ahead for their presentations.

GDPR and Subject Access Requests – 26 September 2017, Reading

Legal change in the form of the General Data Protection Regulations or GDPR, come into effect on 25 May 2018. For those who think there is plenty of time to get ready, or that the changes don’t apply to your organisation, think again. No matter how small or how large, your organisation will hold, store, use and process information about your staff or the wider general public. GDPR is relevant and will affect your business. Organisations need to start reviewing their documents – and they will need updating and changing – rolling out training to managers and staff and ensuring that data processing and protection fits the new stricter rules under the GDPR. To find out about the new rules, what they will mean and how they will affect your organisation. We will also be focusing on subject access requests which also stay under the new rules. Be prepared and note that organisations will have to take steps to get ready before the Regulations come into force so come and hear more. 

Recruitment and Immigration Rules – Business Immigration Masterclass - 5 October 2017, London

For those of you who recruit, our Business Immigration Masterclass is a must. Run in conjunction with our Business Immigration team and industry experts, this course will help your HR and recruitment teams navigate their way through the business immigration minefield. Remember that there is a £20,000 fine per illegal worker if immigration checks are not made and recorded. This course is not one to be missed and will discuss recruiting immigration rules. 

Millennial Management Dilemma – Wednesday 18 October 2017, London

How do we get the best out of our millennial talent pool? What are our millennial employees looking for in an employer? How can we encourage our managers to lead by example and courage the best from our people? We’re running this course again for our London audience. 

Building Better Teams – Conference – Thursday 19 October 2017, Reading

Join us for our last 2017 Conference where we focus on building better teams. We focus on “success” and ask what does success look like for your business? How can managers lead by example to get the best from their people? What techniques can organisations use to get more from their people. Our conference will be held at the Madejski Stadium in Reading. 

Wellness at work – Mental Health “First Aid Kit” for Organisations – Thursday 16 November 2017, Reading  

Wellness is in the news and on the boardroom agenda but what is it? How can wellness positively impact your workforce, reduce absence (and associated costs) and improve your bottom line? How can we help our people when they are off sick? How can we get the best out of our occupational health advisors and medical professionals? What is our mental health “first aid kit”? Join us and Mike King RN, SCPHN-OH, ONC Clinical and Operations director at Asclepius Occupational Health for a course which will help organisations navigate and understand the risks and costs associated with workplace absence whilst explaining how focusing on mental health issues can make a difference to individuals and also to an organisation’s bottom line.
