Windsor and Maidenhead consults on proposals for community infrastructure levy
23 October 2015

The Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead has published its CIL Draft Charging Schedule. This is the second formal stage of preparation for introducing CIL into the Borough and represents the last realistic chance of influencing the process of setting the rates.

For residential development it proposes a CIL rate of £240 per square metre for the Borough except in the built up areas of Maidenhead where rates of £100 per square metre are proposed and the urban core of the town centre within the Maidenhead Area Action plan zone where a zero rate is proposed. The consultation paper is accompanied by maps showing the extent of these areas.

It is to be noted that care homes within Use Class C2 are to be taxed at the same rate as mainstream housing.

Larger retail warehouses will face a charge of £100 per square metre whilst smaller more traditional shops will attract a zero rate

Large offices of over 2000 square metres area will face a charge of £150 per square metre, smaller offices a zero rate.

Consultation runs until 23rd November 2015. Full details are available via the link the relevant part of the Council's website.
