Workplace mental health issues are a growing concern for employers, but how can we increase awareness and offer support to staff when they need it? Our HR Training Academy is offering a one-day Adult Accredited Mental Health First Aid Champion course, run by Libby Morley RGN OHA (Dip), Owner of Mindshift Consultancy and Associate Trainer with MHFA England.
This full day, interactive and accredited course will increase your awareness of the key issues, enabling you to promote and champion mental health first aid within your organisation.
There is a government manifesto pledge to amend health and safety legislation so that mental health is treated the same way as physical health, including the need to train staff on mental health issues. By attending this course you raise awareness and get ahead of the curve.
Key elements of the course
During the day, we will focus on:
- What is mental health and stress in the workplace
- Discrimination and stigma around mental health issues
- Different types of mental health issues
- How alcohol and drugs use can impact on mental health
- How to spot the early warning signs of mental health issues
- How to listen, encourage and support those with mental health issues within your workplace
- How to build and put in place a Mental Health First Aid action plan
- How to build a mentally healthy workplace

You will benefit from being part of a small group of delegates, discussing these core issues away from the hustle and bustle of your day, allowing you to fully explore these most sensitive of topics.
This Mental Health First Aid Champion course is also an accredited course. Those delegates who complete the full day’s training and meet the course conditions will receive a certificate confirming they are a mental health first aid champion, demonstrating your organisation’s commitment to mental health issues.
You will also benefit from learning from an accredited mental health first aid trainer as well as be being able meet lawyers from our Employment Group.
This Mental Health First Aid Champion course can be run in-house for your workforce or as a 2-day extended course.

What your day includes
You will receive a workbook and manual, together with refreshments throughout the day. If you complete the course and meet the course conditions, you will also receive a certificate confirming completion of the course and will be recognised as a Mental Health First Aid Champion for your organisation.
