Course overview

Training managers on their key people leadership roles, risks and responsibilities can have a positive impact on your managers, your staff and your business.  Ensuring managers understand how workplace situations can escalate - be it conduct, absence or performance - if they are not managed early, quickly and within the legal parameters, can lead to less complaints and ultimately less claims. Whilst managers have an important role to play in the employee relationship; they often lack the skills, knowledge and confidence to be able to spot, escalate or manage core employee-related issues, relying too heavily on HR.

Let’s change this.

Join us – book onto our popular Manager Masterclass run by Emma O’Connor, Legal Director and Head of Client Training.  This day long, manager-focused face to face course looks at the key employment law issues managers need to know and navigate.

Who should book on this course?

This course is suitable for those who are stepping up to management, managers who have never had any people or employment law training, or those managers who need a refresher. Frequently asked questions

Is the Masterclass for me?

The course is aimed at people managers and leaders who are either stepping up to leadership, those who are returning to leadership after a break or experienced leaders who want to brush up on their core employment law knowledge. Previous attendees have included those in a junior leadership role right through to Director level.

How much detail will you go into?

The agenda is ambitious; however, we aim to cover topics focusing on what managers need to know and some of the key risks areas managers should be aware of. There is a manager problem-solving focus where we take a topic and look at some of the key areas where managers might be involved or the questions which might be asked of you.  As we work in a “class room” feel, there is a chance to work through challenges in more detail. We spend time focusing on key roles – your role and the role of HR.

Is the session online?

We want to run the course in person, as we think this allows for better discussion and learning opportunity. We do not record the session either.

Can I book without a purchase order?

Booking/payment can be done online via a credit card or via an invoice.  We use Swift pay.  Payment is made via our usual terms.  We do not offer refunds for non-attendance; however, if you are unable to attend you can ask a colleague to take your place. Our full Terms and Conditions relating to training can be found here. Any questions at the time of booking, please ask.

Can I make a provisional booking?

We do ask that all bookings are paid for in advance of the training dates. As we try and limit spaces, we cannot accept provision bookings.

Is lunch included?

A working lunch is provided.  We will ask you for any dietary requirements prior to the day. We will have breaks during the day, and we’re pretty flexible in terms of breaks as we appreciate manager’s time is valuable!

Will I receive the slides?

Yes, you’ll receive a pack (which includes the slides) so you can make notes during the sessions.
