We know that those self isolating have been told not to see a doctor which has led to concerns over how employees can comply with your sickness absence rules and claim either Statutory Sick Pay or Employer Sick Pay.

The government have launched an online self-isolation sick note which is available online.  Those who need it will need to answer some questions about their symptoms and circumstance before it is emailed to them – and can then be emailed to their employer. Click here for the sick note.

Just a word of caution about medical information – this is “special category information” under Data Protection Rules so please remember to ensure such information is kept secure, is not transmitted or used for an unintended purpose and only those who need to know about do so.
