Boyes Turner’s mesothelioma specialists have secured a settlement for the family of a married woman who contracted mesothelioma at the age of 75.
Exposure
Mrs P was exposed to asbestos in 1962 when she worked for Secomastic Limited, a large dusty factory on Western Avenue in Bracknell. Mrs P worked on the production line, on a machine that cut out a grey coloured block shape which then dropped into a bucket underneath the table. These blocks were called Philbloc and were made from a mixture of plastic asbestos fibres or asbestos and cement which were mixed together on the production line where Mrs P worked. The company produced tens of thousands of these blocks.
Mesothelioma claim
Mrs P became unwell in 2015. Following investigations, she was diagnosed as suffering from malignant mesothelioma, an aggressive disease which she was told was almost always caused by exposure to asbestos. She recalled her own exposure to asbestos whilst working on the production line at Secomastic Limited in 1962 and instructed Boyes Turner’s industrial disease team to help her make a claim. Sadly, Mrs P passed away in April 2015. Her family continued with the claim on her behalf and we were able to secure a substantial, negotiated settlement prior to the issue of Court proceedings.
