Rachael Allison is a Partner in Boyes Turner’s Special Education Needs team. Rachael’s experience extends to assisting parents at all stages of the SEN process, adopting a pro-active and collaborative approach at every stage including pre EHCP provision and support, refusal to assess or issue a Plan, review of draft EHCPs, Annual Reviews and failure to deliver on the contents of Plans.
She is a expert in all SEN appeals. Rachael also undertakes advocacy at appeals and representation at Annual Reviews and mediation meetings.
Rachael receives a significant number of referrals from former and current clients, independent experts, and professionals within schools and colleges, reflecting the trust placed in her expertise. She also delivers podcasts to SEN and parent groups enabling her to provide practical and informed guidance to families seeking appropriate educational provision.
Rachael is a passionate advocate for helping parents access the SEN support and legal services they need at an affordable cost. To support this commitment, she developed our Capped Costs model for suitable cases, providing greater cost certainty and accessibility.
Rachael has extensive experience with supporting children and young people with dyslexia, dyspraxia, autism spectrum disorder (ASD), ADHD plus numerous Down Syndrome and adopted child cases.
Personal family experience of SEN led her to move away from insurance litigation; but her expertise in both civil and tribunal work provides valuable insight into the challenges faced by children with complex needs arising from injury or medical conditions, helping her identify where additional educational support, specialist provision or statutory SEN assistance may be required.
