Laura Magson

Laura Magson, Partner and Head of Boyes Turner’s Mesothelioma and Asbestos Disease team, has more than 20 years of specialist experience in claims for clients with mesothelioma and asbestos-related disease. She is an APIL accredited Asbestos Disease Specialist and Senior Litigator and is recognised as a leading industrial disease lawyer by Legal 500 and Chambers UK Legal Guide.

Laura’s widely acknowledged expertise as an asbestos-related disease claims litigator is reflected in her role for APIL as an assessor of other solicitors who are applying for asbestos disease specialist accreditation. Her experience, empathy and dedication to securing justice and compensation for those affected by negligent asbestos exposure is also recognised in her team’s legal panel membership of prominent asbestos support group, HASAG, whose clients she represents.

Laura aims to secure substantial interim payments and settlements for her injured clients during their lifetime, often within months of instruction, with guaranteed future provision for private immunotherapy treatment costs, where needed.  Where there is a risk of future serious deterioration, such as in claims involving lung cancer, asbestosis and pleural thickening, she protects her client’s interests with settlements made on a provisional damages basis. 

When it is not possible to conclude the case during a client’s lifetime, Laura supports their family to complete the claim on the deceased’s behalf. She personally supports asbestos disease sufferers at support groups, coffee mornings and charity events, and gives regular presentations and training on asbestos disease and related claims to health care professionals throughout the country.

Away from the office, Laura helps raise awareness and funds for asbestos disease support groups and charities. Her fundraising events have included abseiling down The Blade skyscraper in Reading in aid of children’s hospice, Naomi House, hosting a mixed netball tournament and a 25km Thames Path Challenge walk for Mesothelioma UK.
