Boyes Turner’s medical negligence lawyers have obtained a settlement of £165,000 for a young man whose testicular cancer was allowed to progress after the defendant hospital negligently failed to carry out thorough cancer screening including cancer marker blood tests.
By the time our client was diagnosed with testicular cancer, he had already developed secondary tumours in his lungs, brain and spleen.
We pursued our client’s claim for compensation for the severe worsening of his condition and the impact on his life of the defendant’s delayed diagnosis of his cancer. The case was complex as the value of the claim depended on the extent to which our client’s treatment, ongoing injury and life expectation would have been different if his testicular cancer had been diagnosed sooner.
The defendant’s initial response to the claim admitted that their negligent failure to carry out cancer marker blood tests caused a four-month delay in our client’s diagnosis. This admission was later withdrawn. We issued court proceedings and the case settled soon afterwards for £165,000.
