£35,000 compensation for welder diagnosed with pleural thickening

Our asbestos claims lawyers were instructed on behalf of Mr O in respect of a claim for compensation arising out of his diagnosis of pleural thickening.

Mr O had worked for various different companies during the course of his working life as a welder. He worked at power stations, steelworks and shipyards. He was heavily exposed to asbestos, often as a result of working in close proximity to laggers who were mixing raw asbestos with water and then applying it, or removing it.

We were able to identify all of Mr O’s former employers and pursued the claim against Babcock & Wilcox Limited, Cascade Water Coolers Limited, Aiton & Co Limited, P.P.M. (Glasgow) Limited, Refractory Services Limited, British Steel Corporation Limited, Foster Wheeler (London) Limited, and E. Green & Son Limited.

The number of defendant’s made the claim more complex, although settlement was reached without the need to issue Court proceedings.

Mr O’s claim settled for £35,000 on a full and final basis.
