Asbestosis compensation recovered for family of former Hampton and Sons Apprentice Joiner

Boyes Turner’s specialist industrial disease team were instructed by the family of Mr P who developed asbestosis as a result of exposure to asbestos during his employment as an apprentice joiner with Story and Co Limited (formerly Hampton and Sons Limited).

Asbestos exposure

Mr P was exposed to asbestos when he was employed as an apprentice carpenter by Story and Co Limited, between 1952 and 1957, when he cut, pressed and sanded sheets of asbestos and when he swept the workshop floor.

Expert medical evidence was obtained and Court proceedings were commenced.

Asbestos claim settled

In August 2015 settlement of the claim was agreed in the sum of £45,000 inclusive.
