Barry is a Partner and Head of the Employment and Immigration Team. He acts for a wide range of clients from international conglomerates to smaller owner-managed businesses in a variety of sectors including engineering, leisure and hospitality, professional services, software and technology, agriculture and transport and logistics.
Barry advises employers when faced with senior/Board level terminations and has successfully acted for employers in a number of high profile and complex unfair dismissal and discrimination claims. He regularly advises on post-termination restrictions and has successfully obtained and resisted applications for an injunction.
He regularly advises employers dealing with the complexities of TUPE and, with the wider team, supports the corporate group when they are involved in business acquisitions and disposals.
Throughout his practice he seeks to take an informed and pragmatic approach to problems, handling them in the manner most suited to achieving his client’s goals.
Given the international nature of Barry’s clients he often works with a network of international lawyers to deal with clients’ international HR and employee relations issues.
Barry is recognised in Chambers and Legal 500 as a leader in his field. He writes regularly on topical issues both internally and externally to the firm and is often asked to comment on developments in the wider HR field.
