James qualified into litigation having trained at Boyes Turner and now works closely with both Disputes and Debt Recovery.

Following 5 seats within the firm’s business services, including Commercial & Technology, Commercial Property, Employment, Dispute Resolution, and Construction; James has focused his legal career on providing pragmatic, commercial advice.

In his current role, James deals with defended debt recovery matters typically in the small and fast track but also assists the wider Disputes team as necessary. He is also responsible for bankruptcy and insolvency work. James has worked on complicated disputes relating to construction and accountancy.

During his studies at the University of Sussex, James was personally selected by his tutor to attend the university’s award-winning pro-bono clinic. This provided him with first-hand insight into how the advice and support of expert solicitors and barristers can be vitally important in often very trying times. This provided him with the motivation to become a solicitor, with a view to continuing to help others with the same selflessness and dedication observed.

James is an active member of the firm’s Social Mobility Group and spends additional time engaging with local schools and planning firm events to promote social mobility. He has led presentations on access to the profession, helped plan awareness events and has attended CV workshops at schools in an effort to inspire others from underrepresented backgrounds to enter the profession.
