£75,000 compensation for bereaved husband after hospital failures lead to wife’s death from kidney failure

Boyes Turner’s medical negligence lawyers recovered £75,000 in compensation for a 68-year-old man after hospital negligence led to the death of his wife.

The defendant hospital failed to monitor or treat the woman’s declining kidney function over an eight-month period leading up to her death at the age of 69 from renal (kidney) failure. Our expert advised that if our client’s wife’s declining kidney function had been detected sooner, then with correct treatment she would have survived. She would have needed a kidney transplant/renal replacement therapy, even with correct care, but the hospital’s negligence led to her death.

We put our client’s claim for compensation to the defendant hospital in a formal letter of claim. The NHS trust admitted liability (responsibility) and the claim concluded with a £75,000 settlement for our client.
