Julie Marsh is a Partner within Boyes Turner’s outstanding Medical Negligence team. She has vast experience in high value and complex claims for clients whose lives have been changed by cauda equina syndrome (CES) and spinal cord injury (SCI), amputation, brain injury and disability caused by infections such as meningitis, sepsis and tuberculosis (TB). Julie also has specialist experience in claims for bereaved, dependent families after fatal injury, and in claims related to blindness, delayed cancer treatment and diabetes-related conditions.
Julie is particularly recognised for her expertise in Cauda Equina Syndrome (CES) claims, acting for numerous clients whose lives have been significantly affected by delays in diagnosis or treatment of this serious spinal condition. She has extensive experience navigating the complex medical and legal issues often associated with CES claims and has secured substantial compensation to fund rehabilitation, specialist equipment, accommodation needs, care, and long-term financial security.
Julie also specialises in high-value and complex claims involving birth injury, brain injury and neurological disability. She acts for children and young adults with conditions including cerebral palsy and hypoxic ischaemic encephalopathy (HIE) and other severe disabilities arising from substandard medical care.
She is particularly experienced in supporting families following traumatic events during pregnancy, labour, birth and the neonatal period. Julie guides parents through clinical investigations and legal processes with compassion and professionalism, helping them obtain answers and secure the support their child will need throughout their lifetime.
Julie understands the profound impact that CES can have on every aspect of a person’s life, including mobility, independence, employment, and personal relationships. She works closely with her clients to ensure their individual needs are fully understood and accurately reflected in their claims.
Her commitment to this area extends beyond litigation, as she actively supports initiatives and organisations dedicated to raising awareness of Cauda Equina Syndrome and improving outcomes for those affected.
Julie is also highly experienced in handling complex clinical negligence claims involving serious infections, including cases of meningitis and sepsis where delays in diagnosis or treatment have resulted in life-changing consequences. She acts for clients who have suffered significant injury as a result of mismanaged or undiagnosed infections, combining a detailed understanding of the medical issues with a strategic and compassionate approach to litigation.
Julie specialises in helping people whose lives have been changed by avoidable amputation resulting from sepsis, diabetic foot complications, and failures to diagnose or treat vascular conditions. She works closely with clients to secure compensation that provides access to rehabilitation, prosthetic technology, specialist care, adapted accommodation and the resources needed to maximise independence and quality of life.
Julie is respected by professional colleagues and counsel for her tenacious and thorough approach to clinical negligence investigations, leaving no stone unturned to ensure the best outcome and fullest compensation for her clients.
Julie’s clients value her responsiveness and approachable, down-to-earth manner and her straightforward openness and honesty about their journey, the claims process and what lies ahead. Her extensive knowledge and interest in her clients’ conditions has enabled her to develop a clear understanding of their challenges and expertise in securing and supporting their rehabilitation.
Through the claims process, Julie helps her clients accept that rehabilitation and purposeful life is possible after life-changing disability, helping them look forward and redefine themselves beyond their injury. Julie also has an interest and experience in resolving claims for her clients via mediation.
Away from the office, Julie shares and develops her knowledge and expertise, working closely with cauda equina not for profit organisation, CESCI, and as a trustee and mentor for leading meningitis charity, Meningitis Now.
