Claire Roantree is a Partner in Boyes Turner’s Personal Injury team and is recognised as a leading personal injury lawyer by Chambers UK Legal Guide and Legal 500. She is a specialist in brain injury, complex major trauma and rehabilitation, acting for clients who have suffered life-changing injury and disability, and for the bereaved families of those who have suffered fatal injury.

Claire has nearly 30 years’ experience of securing rehabilitation and compensation for clients affected by life-changing traumatic injury, including subtle to severe traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, major trauma and complex orthopaedic/musculoskeletal (MSK) injury, amputation, severe burns, chronic pain/CRPS and psychological injury/PTSD. She also represents bereaved, dependent families in fatal accident claims and at coroner’s court inquests.

Claire has specialist expertise in brain injury and major trauma where her focus is on using the claims process to facilitate early  rehabilitation, care and support for her injured clients and their families. Claire’s client-focused experience has given her invaluable insight into the power of early rehabilitation to optimise recovery and long-term outcomes for her severely-injured clients. By working closely with clinicians and rehabilitation providers, Claire helps her clients to rebuild their lives and restore their independence, with a supported return to work (where possible) and participation in family and social activity, enabling them to achieve a sense of purpose and self-worth which all help to optimise recovery after a life-changing injury.

Claire works closely with defendant insurers, using the Rehabilitation Code and interim payments to provide her injured clients with the treatment, care, facilities and support that they need to get their rehabilitation underway, without losing valuable recovery time whilst waiting for final settlement at the conclusion of the claim. Working with experts in a variety of medical and therapeutic disciplines, professional case managers and carers, the client’s immediate needs for recovery and rehabilitation are prioritised whilst Claire carries out the necessary work to quantify the claim to make maximum provision for her client’s future care, support and financial security.

Claire is known for her exceptional understanding and empathy for her injured clients, and for their families who may also be affected by their injury, whilst ensuring that the full extent and impact of their injury is recognised, treated and compensated through the litigation process.

Alongside her personalised service to her severely-injured clients, Claire is a co-founder and director of the Major Trauma Group. A collaboration of leading law firms and clinicians with specialist expertise in major trauma claims, rehabilitation and compensation. She shares her knowledge and expertise through training events and talks to multi-disciplinary neuro-rehabilitation teams and local trauma network teams about the importance of rehabilitation in the litigation process. A keen charity supporter and fundraiser, she has used her love of running and walking to fundraise for The Children’s Trust, Headway SW London (in her former role as trustee), the Child Brain Injury Trust and the Katie Piper Foundation.
