Phil is a Partner in the Dispute Resolution team specialising in corporate and commercial litigation.

Phil advises across a wide spectrum of sectors and industries and is regularly instructed on complex corporate and commercial disputes, including disputes arising from commercial contracts for the supply of goods and services, warranty claims, shareholder and minority rights disputes, partnership disputes, disputes arising from company sale and purchase agreements, shareholder agreements, and issues concerning directors’ rights and duties. He also advises on insurance disputes, trust disputes, personal and corporate guarantee claims, and insolvency-related litigation. His work frequently includes a cross-jurisdictional element.

Phil also regularly advises on restrictive covenant disputes, acting for both employers and employees. His experience includes matters involving non-compete and non-solicitation provisions, as well as disputes concerning the misuse of confidential information. Where necessary, Phil has experience in pursuing and defending applications for injunctive relief to protect clients’ commercial interests or to resist overly restrictive restraints.

Phil acts for a broad client base including high net worth individuals, SMEs, large owner-managed businesses, start-ups, PLCs, and multinational organisations. In addition to contentious work, Phil advises companies, directors, stakeholders, and individuals on strategic issues with a view to avoiding or containing disputes before they escalate.

Having previously been recognised as a “Next Generation Lawyer” in The Legal 500 for Insolvency and Corporate Recovery work, Phil now leads the firm’s contentious insolvency offering. This includes bringing and defending claims against directors and third parties in relation to unlawful transactions and director misconduct, complementing his wider corporate litigation practice.

Phil is an experienced Alternative Dispute Resolution practitioner and regularly assists clients in resolving disputes without the need for costly litigation. Where litigation is required, Phil has the experience to act robustly on behalf of his clients and to manage proceedings effectively through the court process.

Phil trained and qualified at a large regional firm in Hampshire before spending two years practising offshore dispute resolution and litigation in the British Virgin Islands. He joined Boyes Turner in early 2023, strengthening the firm’s corporate litigation capability within the Dispute Resolution team.
