Role Description

We have a great opportunity for a Paralegal to join our forward-thinking, innovative, and friendly Personal Injury/ Industrial Disease team based in Reading.  Reporting into the Personal Injury Partners you will be responsible for supporting the wider Personal Injury team that acts for Claimants with serious injuries and asbestos related diseases.

The ideal candidate will be passionate about personal injury/ industrial disease with a key eye for detail and excellent communication skills.

As part of the role the candidate will be expected to attend to our offices in Reading 2 days each week.

Experience/ Attributes required

Essential Skills

  • Eager to learn and develop in the field of PI and Industrial Disease
  • Comfortable speaking to clients on the telephone
  •  Ability to work unsupervised (where necessary)
  •  Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  •  Work effectively as part of a team
  • Excellent keyboard skills plus good knowledge of Microsoft office software packages

Desirable Skills

  •  Previous experience of Claimant PI or asbestos work is desirable
  •  Strong knowledge of PI and disease law and its application is desirable

Work type:

  • Handling initial queries from clients
  • Assisting senior fee earners with complex PI and mesothelioma/asbestos disease cases
  • Dealing with correspondence and documents, including drafting of court form Preparing court bundles
  • Carrying out research, including defendant company research
  •  Ensuring file management, case management and administration are kept up to date using iManage, Elite, MatterSphere, PDF docs, Microsoft Teams and Outlook 365 packages
  • Drafting documents such as care statements, Part 8 proceedings, restoring companies to the Company Register
  •  Assisting the team with marketing – managing social media platforms, writing articles, attending charity meetings and events
  •  General administrative tasks on files
