Course overview

A manager walks into your office and asks:

  • Someone's raised a grievance about me, what should I do?
  • What can I do if someone is off sick again?
  • What’s the role of an investigation officer?
  • SARs and third party information - what are the rules?
  • Can someone work from home all the time?
  • Employee, working, casual temp, agency worker - HELP!!

Would you know how to answer these questions? If your answers are "I don't know" or "I'm not sure", then our HR Masterclass is for you! Back for 2022, this is your opportunity to meet like-minded HR professionals who wish to consolidate or refresh their knowledge and stay up to date with current legislation and HR practice.

Delivered by Emma O’Connor, Director and Head of Training, over 2 days from our Reading office, the Masterclass is deliberately run in small groups to create a “classroom” feel which allows attendees to ask questions or go over topics in greater detail.

What sets this course apart is that it is aimed specifically at HR, focusing on HR’s roles and employee relations responsibilities at practical level.  We’ll focus on how HR guides managers through the HR systems and processes to ensure compliance. Emma will share her knowledge of over 20 years working in employment law and give you tips and techniques for managing those tricky ER issues.

*cost includes a delegate pack, refreshments and a working lunch.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Masterclass for me?

The course is aimed at those who are new to a career in HR, have returned to HR from a break or who want to brush up on their core knowledge and skills.  Previous attendees have included those in an HR advisory role right through to HR Director level.

How much detail will you go into?

The agenda is ambitious; however, we aim to cover topics focusing on what HR need to know and how HR can help the business/managers. There is a HR problem solving focus where we take a topic and look at some of the key areas where HR might be involved or the questions which might be asked of you.  As we work in a “class room” feel, there is a chance to work through challenges in more detail.

The sessions run till 2.30pm each day why is this?

We want the training to be as inclusive as we can and we have found this end time works well with those who travel or have other commitments.  It also gives attendees the chance to test out what they have learnt in the session if they return to work.

Is the session online?

Unfortunately not.  We want to run the course in person as we think this allows for better discussion and learning opportutnity.  We do not record the session either.

Can I book without a purchase order?

Booking/payment can be done online via a credit card or via an invoice.  We use Swift pay.  Payment is made via our usual terms.  We do not offer refunds for non-attendance; however, if you are unable to attend you can ask a colleague to take your place. Our full Terms and Conditions relating to training can be found here. Any questions at the time of booking please ask.

If you are booking for 2 or more delegates we offer a 5% discount.

Can I make a provisional booking?

We do ask that all bookings are paid for in advance of the training dates.  As we try and limit spaces, we cannot accept provision bookings.

Can I only attend 1 day?

Not really as the sessions complement each other and what you learn on day 1 will help with your understanding of day 2 (and vice versa).

Is lunch included?

A working lunch is provided on both sessions.  We will ask you for any dietary requirements prior to the day. We will have breaks during the day and water is provided on tables, it’s pretty flexible in terms of breaks!

Will I receive the slides?

Yes, you’ll receive a pack (which includes the slides) so you can make notes during the sessions.

Is the course accredited?

No it isn’t. You will however, receive a certificate of attendance.
