Derek has over 30 years’ experience in handling a wide range of property, development and planning projects relating to sites across England and Wales. He specialises in advising landowners, residential and commercial developers and funders on land development issues, including all aspects of site acquisitions and site assembly, secured lending to developers, environmental issues and planning law. He also has considerable experience of work for corporate occupiers and commercial property investors.
He has over 15 years’ experience of working for public sector bodies including the NHS, local authorities and the Environment Agency in relation to both property transactions and broader procurement issues. Derek also advises a number of charities on their property portfolios, handling acquisitions and disposals as well as asset management issues.
