Role Description
We have an exciting opportunity for a Costs Lawyer/ Costs Draftsperson to join our friendly team. Reporting to the Costs Director you will be responsible for the preparation of Court of Protection Bills of Costs.
The successful candidate will be a Costs Lawyer/Costs Draftsperson with a around two years’ experience looking to build on their existing practical costs knowledge; however, we would also consider a Court of Protection junior fee earner/paralegal who is looking at progressing into a professional costs role.

Experience/ Attributes required
- A working knowledge of CPR
- An understanding of legal documents
- An understanding of procedure in legal costs
- Proven administrative skills within a professional legal environment
- Excellent care and communication skills
- Proficient using CostsMaster, MS Excel and Word
- An understanding of the function of Court of Protection
- An understanding of the function of the SCCO (Senior Courts Costs Office)
- A record of preparing bills of costs in Court of Protection matters
Work type:
- Preparation of Court of Protection bills of costs.
- Liaising directly with the Costs Director (head of group) in regard to workflow, capacity and billing
- Working with the Court of Protection group to maintain an agreed working practice
Advocacy, when required, appealing SCCO decisions on assessed bills of Costs
